inca trail 7 says 6 nights

The Salkantay to Machu Picchu trek normally takes 7 Day and has become popular with trekkers wanting to combine a quieter less trodden route with a visit to the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu. For the first 3 day you will be surrounded with magnificent scenery and rarely see other groups of trekkers. On the fourth day you join up with the famous Inca Trail at Wayllabamba town and continue to Machu Picchu arriving on afternoon on Day 6 th so you can enjoy the beautiful and tranquil sunset and after that we head down to Aguas Calientes town to relax in the natural hot springs and find a conformable bed after 5 nights in camp, early on Day 7th we take the first bus up to Machu picchu for our guided tour and time to explore. The trek is only a little more difficult than the Classic Inca Trail, horses are used for the first 4 days to transport food and equipment then we will swap over to using traditional porters for this final section.

Inca Trail

I would like to express my deepest and most sincere gratitude to Sap Adventures for an amazing and unforgettable trek along the Inca Trail. From the first email before our trip until our departure from Cusco, everyone at SAP took excellent care of my mom, my aunt, and me, but I especially want to thank our guides: Braulio and Franklin. We literally would not have made it to Machu Picchu without them.
We knew going into the trek that we would be the slowest of the group, but we were unprepared for the altitude sickness and exhaustion

A Shorter Version Of The Inca Trail

leaves from Km 104 (104 kilometers along the railway from Cusco to Aguas Calientes), at 2100m, and involves a four hour walk uphill to the Wiñay-Wayna ruins (2700 m) and then a couple of hours further to Machu Picchu.

This hike is accessible for all ages and doesn't require you to be in top physical shape. Since your one day hike takes you to the town of Aguas Calientes where you will stay at a tourist hostel, you will not have to camp or carry backpacks; only your personal day-pack with essentials.
This program is recommended to those with less time at their disposition, those less able/fit, and those with less experience in trekking and those not accustomed to high altitude. This 2-Day trek covers a 16-km Inca Trail, picking up the 4-day trail at the impressive archaeological site of Wiñay-Wayna – only Inca Trail hikers get to enjoy these ruins!!! The name Wiñay-Wayna means “Forever Young “in Quechua – native Inca language, and the place is named after a pink and purple orchid of that name that grows in the area. Farming terraces (or andenes) surrounding the whole side of a mountain decorate this ancient Inca castle with temples, residences and water channels. The stonework is prime quality and features fine masonry with a magnificent sequence of fifteen ritual fountain baths. It was a religious centre, probably associated with the ritualistic worshiping of water. Chachabamba, Choquesuysuy and Inti-pata are other very interesting Inca Complexes hiding in the middle of the beauty of the mountains and the lower part of the Sub-tropical valley.
Trekkers must continue the hike all the way to Machu Picchu where you will observe the famous view from the Sun gate “Inti Punku” and then spend the night in a comfortable hostel in Aguas Calientes. Groups will then return to Machu Picchu for a guided tour on the second day. Very early in the morning you will have a private guided tour of Machupicchu – avoiding the large crowds that arrive with the first trains from Cusco, and then you have free time to explore and take pictures on your own. (Guided group average 5 -8 people Max).

This Luxury Trek Makes Your Trip As Comfortable As Possible – Fit For A King!

If you would like your group to be "closed", meaning you would like a private service only for you or your family or friends, this is entirely possible. With this tour you are given more flexibility to walk at your own pace and have the guide to yourselves. Everything is done so that the trek is nothing of a 'roughing it' experience. You will only carry a small day-pack (which should include items such as a waterproof jacket, sun protection cream, insect repellent, water and camera) – porters will carry the rest of your personal belongings. In general you will have an all round more personal service!
At the time of making your reservation, kindly indicate that you would prefer this option;
In This Service You Can Also Request Your Preference Of Food!!
The Inca Trail offers the traveler a wonderful combination of scenery: magnificent mountains and lush valleys, subtropical fauna and flora, and of course the amazing Inca ruins. Over 220 species of orchids have been found in the Machupicchu Historic Sanctuary, as well as many species of birds, animals and reptiles. The vegetation is also vastly varied.
In order to undertake this inca trail you need to have a reasonable level of fitness – age is irrelevant though! The most important factor is acclimatizing properly to the altitude change. The maximum elevation above sea level along the trail is 4,200m, so we suggest that you spend at least 2 or 3 days in Cusco before attempting to walk the trail. During this time you can explore the wonderful city which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We can offer you many other shorts tours which would be ideal for exploring in and around the City for one or two days.
Note: Private service also means private/special treatment for your porters, ie: they get paid more!

Why Do I Need To Book In Advance And How Far In Advance Should I Book?

Due to regulations brought in in 2002, the Inca Trail (4 or 2 days) is limited to 500 people per day (including Guides, porters and cooks). It is therefore necessary to book in advance to guarantee a place on the date you want to leave. For Inca Trail treks in the high season (May,June, July, August and September) it is advisable to book at least 5 months ahead.

How Can I Book A Place On The Trail?
*If you want to confirm your reservation: Please provide us with the following reservation information in order to process your reservation:
  • Full name
  • Gender
  • Date of birth
  • Passport number (it is important that we receive the passport number that you will use whilst on the trek; please advise if you think you will change your passport before you do the Inca trail)
  • Nationality
*Confirm whether you are a student (it is necessary to have a valid ISIC card to qualify as a student) and if so scan and email it. (We need to present a copy of your card now and you will also need to take the original on the Inca Trail. If for any reason, you will not have your original card when you are going to enter the Inca Trail, please advise us as soon as you know this - the Inca Trail authorities are extremely strict and will not allow you to enter the Inca Trail if you have booked as a student but do not have your original card at the time of entering).
*Decide whether or not you want an (1) extra porter who would carry your personal belongings (the 2010 price of this service is USA$100, for 2011 the price is $110).  By hiring a porter you will only need to carry a very small day pack. (Please note, you can also share one porter between two people - up to 7 kilos*each (7kl. includes sleeping bags and mats)–costing USA$50/$55 each.) We provide you with a duffle bag in which to put your belongings that your extra porter will carry. If you do not hire a porter, you will carry your personal belongings including sleeping bag and sleeping mattress.
*Please note that sleeping bag, sleeping mattress, clothes, etc are carried by the tourist if no extra porter is hired.

4 Days Inca Trail Hike, the Peru's best known hike to Machu Picchu.

The Inca Trail is Peru's best known hike, combining a stunning mix of Inca ruins, mountain scenery, lush cloud-forest and rich subtropical jungle. Over 250 species of orchid have been counted in the Machu Picchu Historic Sanctuary, as well as numerous birds such as hummingbirds, waterfowl and the majestic Andean Condor. The star of the Sanctuary is the spectacled bear - a shy, herbivorous animal that is extremely rare and close to extinction. Also is a magnificent, well preserved Trail route which connects Machu Picchu with what once were other regions of the Inca Empire, and today it is one of the world’s most popular treks. This four-day walk goes from the highlands of 4,200mts and down through the cloud forests to finally arrive at Machu Picchu - 2,380mts.
There are many trails built by Incas in Peru, but there is one Inca Trail-the one that was the Incas "Royal highway" to Machu Picchu. Hiram Bingham, discoverer of Machu Picchu in 1911, found the trail in 1915. The highway was traced and explored in more details in 1942 by the Viking Expedition with Paul Fejos 1941.
